looking ahead, way ahead

Education for Bean is almost constantly on my mind.

Today, a press release from our hometown University put a smile on my face.

We are a long way from the college years but it's so good to see programs like these taking root.

Stacy - there's a young man in Ian's afternoon homeschool class in writing at Classical Conversations who has downsyndrome - his name is Carl and he is just such a neat young man (I think he's maybe 13 years old if I had to guess). Occasionally he shares what he has written. All of us (moms and students in the class) just delight in his jokes, his absolutely wonderful sense of humor and all that he adds to our group. He is a great writer too. His Mom teaches the class and Ian loves her - she's a wonderful teacher with a great sense of humor, a catchy laugh and tremendous practical wisdom. The whole family is such an encouragement to all of the families at CC. I know life isn't always easy for them as they are incredibly busy with therapy sessions and all that needs to be done - but what a testimony of joy, strength and courage. Not really sure why, but just wanted to share that with you today. Incidentally - I love what you've done with the furniture. One of these days I'll get up the courage to work on some stuff around the house....but first I need to paint the livingroom! :)
Blessings to you and your family!
